Pre-school Room

3 years +

Our Preschool Room is always buzzing and vibrant. We work hard to create a safe, welcoming, warm & stimulating environment which responds to each child’s individual needs & allows children play, explore, progress and develop new skills at their own pace. We encourage children to make their own choices and express themselves through independent play, while also we offer planned activities and group learning. We aim not just to get children ready for school, but prepare them for life and their future learning. “Older children build secure relationships with others and learn the key skills they will need for future learning, including school” (Ofsted report, 2018).
Our Preschool Room is divided into two spaces. One includes all the messy activities such as sand and water, playdough, art & crafts, cornflour play & many more fun messy activities. The other includes areas like home corner, construction and small world, role play, reading, music & movement, maths, technology & mark making areas. We also use our outdoor area to learn and explore & to get fresh air. We extend children’s learning & experiences by going on outings e.g visiting Hull Central Library, Transport Museum, Local Shops (last visited was Chinese shop), also Parks, Train station and etc.
In Preschool each child is assigned a key worker. We regularly observe children in their play & write observations which we use to plan activities & next steps and support each child’s further development. We use Tapestry to communicate with parents & share their child’s progress and development.
We also aim to develop close & positive partnerships with families & encourage all families get involved in nursery life by participating in stay and play session, reading a story to children, joining us on our different fun days and events. “ At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of parents” (Jane D. Hull).
